Tanzania govt to spend $4.3m on palm farming

I want all Nigerians to read this very well and also share it till Nigerian govt will see it because we Nigerians should show so much interest in the field of agriculture.

Now read below to see how much Tanzania govt invest in palm oil farming.

Tanzania has set aside the sum of $4.3 million dollars to boost cultivation of palm oil farm as part of its strategy to end the importation of edible oils, the prime minister, Kassim Majaliwa said on Monday

The prime minister revealed this when speaking in western Tanzania’s region of Kigoma soon after inspecting an oil palm farm of the National service department (JKT) Bulomora camp.

Majaliwa said the money would be spent in developing the crop so that its farmers are on the same level as growers of other cash crops. He also directed the ministry of agriculture to prepare a demonstration farm in the region where farmers can learn modern methods of palm oil production.

The government will not tolerate anyone who goes against the strategy to revive the crop in the country the prime minister cautioned.

The deputy minister for agriculture said the government’s strategy in reviving the crop is meant to save foreign currency used to import edible palm oils. Kigoma region accounts for more than 80% of palm oil produced in the country and given its soils and weather, it has the potential to make Tanzania one of the world’s top palm oil producers and exporters. Tanzania imports 55.5% of its total edible oil in spite of having a vast and promising production potential in palm oil and sunflower sub-sectors

In spite of the huge potential, the country relies on imported raw materials for producing edible oils and soaps. Tanzania has similar weather conditions as Malaysia’s from where it imports most of its palm oil, Malaysia is the world second largest producer of palm oil while Tanzania is not even on the list of palm oil producing countries.

Tanzania is not on this list but what am seeing here if Nigeria did not take their palm oil production very serious Tanzania will climb the ladder and you know what will happen then Nigeria will be out from the table. I think Nigeria government need to support of the cash crop we have in the country they should not focus on the crude oil alone there are some other places they need to work on, only that it will help some people to get something doing the country it will minimize unemployment.

Look at below you will see the top 5 palm oil producing countries but Nigeria need to act fast before other countries take the position
